Lisa’s love of art began at a very early age. As a child she was always painting, drawing or crafting, even on walls or furniture. Whether her tool of choice was a crayon, marker, pencil, or paintbrush, she was always experimenting with different materials. The joy she felt creating as a child continued throughout high school where she developed a portfolio and found abstract painting. Her desire to continue to learn and grow as an artist lead her to continuing her education taking classes in photography, design and illustration. After a brief stint in the marketing world, Lisa found her home as a professional wedding and lifestyle photographer honing in on her skills as a visual storyteller. After nearly 10 years of growing a successful small business she felt the need to explore the art world again and get back to her beloved roots as an abstract painter. Lisa’s love of interiors, design, color, nature, composition and expertise in visual aesthetics provide a unique perceptive to the world of abstract art.

Lisa lives in Wauwatosa, WI with her husband and 3 children. They are often seen enjoying the outdoors, frequenting sporting events and living life to it’s fullest.

Artist Statement:

I always want my work to be beautiful: it should evoke happiness and a sense of calm or serve as a reminder of life’s goodness. Our lives are not perfect, so I never strive to create the perfect painting. I strive to create a perfectly imperfect balance of colors, shapes and lines with an unexpected twist that marries the elements to produce a snapshot of life.  I use a variety of paints and mark-making tools such as oil sticks, graphite, and charcoal pencils to produce delicate, emotive, and subtle pieces of art. My work essentially becomes a living journal of my life, with each creation serving as a chapter to document my inspiration, feelings, and daily musings. I draw heavy influence from natural, everyday surroundings to the stunning backdrop of mother nature’s delicate hand. I often look internally to my emotional reaction to life’s changes and use those directions as a guide for influencing my work. Creating fluid and sketchy brush strokes, coupled with the spontaneity of emotional mark-making, produce a beautiful silhouette of a moment in time.
